Encyclopedia of Childbearing
by Barbara Katz Rothman
The list of contributors to the Encyclopedia reads like a "Who's
Who" of birth activists, reformers, and defenders from the last two decades,
and more than 90 percent are truly birthing expertsthey're women!
Well-organized, open-minded, up-to-date, and wide-ranging are just a few adjectives
that describe this fascinating book, and readers of all persuasions will spend
many a pleasant and educational hour with it.
As with any encyclopedia, readers will look up one thing, be drawn to another,
and find themselves thinking about the whole from which they are drawn.
While the price is high enough to keep many individuals from acquiring their
own copy, this does present an excellent opportunity to approach our local librarians
about purchasing copies for public use and education. Our communities need access
to this great volume.
