Baby Matters, Revised 2nd Edition:
What Your Doctor May Not Tell You About Caring for Your Baby

by Linda Folden Palmer

[2007, San Diego, California: Baby Reference, 412 pages, paperback.]

[Review first published in Midwifery Today Issue 88, Winter 2008, © 2008, Midwifery Today, Inc. Review by Cheryl K. Smith.]

Most parents want what is best for their babies, but are often misadvised. Written by a doctor of chiropractic, Baby Matters is an excellent resource for advocates of attachment parenting or parents who just want to learn the facts on how to raise a physically and emotionally healthy baby. Backed by science, the author takes on such issues as bonding; immune protection (including vaccination); circumcision; food allergies; nutrition and digestion; breast- and formula-feeding; and a variety of health conditions that can affect babies.

Reviewer Cheryl K. Smith is an editor and a writer who gave up lawyering to raise miniature dairy goats in the coast range of Oregon. She is currently working on a book on goat health care (www.goathealthcare.com).
